The annual competition, established by the Metropolitan Opera in 1954 as a means to discover and promote the careers of emerging opera singers, draws top vocal talent from all over the country to compete for a chance to sing on The Met\u2019s stage in New York City. \u00a0Ms. Singer competed against 25 other vocalists,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most of whom traveled to the audition from states other than Arkansas\u2014including New York, California, Texas, Ohio, and Maryland. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ms. Singer will next advance to the Mid-South Region Finals<\/span>\u00a0&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/?page_id=831\">read more<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Karen Kuralt receives award for excellence in public service<\/h4>\n<p>UALR\u2019s College of Social Sciences and Communication named Praeclara\u2019s communications <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-889\" src=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Karen-Kuralt-web-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"Karen Kuralt, Praeclara communications director\" width=\"150\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Karen-Kuralt-web-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Karen-Kuralt-web-120x150.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Karen-Kuralt-web.jpg 584w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>director, Dr. Karen Kuralt, as its college-level winner of the 2016 Faculty Excellence Award for Public Service.
