One of his first productions was the children\u2019s opera <em>The Golden Vanity<\/em> by Benjamin Britten, performed by the Amabile Boy Choirs of Canada. During his time in Canada, Keating directed performances of musicals such as <em>Oliver!, Bye Bye Birdie<\/em>, and <em>Annie<\/em>, as well as Gilbert and Sullivan\u2019s operetta <em>The Pirates of Penzance<\/em> and Henry Purcell\u2019s <em>Dido and Aeneas<\/em>. In the U.S., he has directed productions of <em>HMS Pinafore<\/em> and <em>Amahl and the Night Visitors<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Collaborating with producer Bruce Rentz and Rebecca Stalcup, Keating developed an original libretto for Carl Orff\u2019s <em>Carmina Burana, <\/em>followed by a new and innovative staging of Benjamin Britten\u2019s<em> Peter Grimes<\/em>. Recent projects include<em> Messiah by Candlelight <\/em>featuring G.F. Handel\u2019s popular oratorio, an original production of<em> Dracula Unearthed <\/em>and the children\u2019s opera<em> The Bremen Town Musicians.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Keating has conducted performances across Europe and North America, including most recently joint performances with Staffelseechor Murnau and Kirchenchor Die Stadtkirche St. Michael von\u00a0L\u00f6ffingen\u00a0in Germany, and the Musikverein Matzen and Singkreis Matzen choirs in Austria. He also continues to perform in his homeland of Canada as a guest conductor in Vancouver, British Columbia; Banff, Alberta; London, Ontario; and throughout the province of Newfoundland. Locally, Keating has conducted performances of Mozart\u2019s <em>Requiem<\/em>, J.S. Bach\u2019s <em>Piano Concerto in D Minor<\/em>, Mendelssohn\u2019s oratio <em>Elijah<\/em>, and various operas including Johann Strauss II\u2019s <em>Die Fledermaus<\/em> and Mozart\u2019s <em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his role as Praeclara\u2019s artistic director, Keating is the artistic director of the Wildwood Academy for Music and the Arts (WAMA), a summer music education program for young musicians of all skill levels sponsored by Wildwood Park for the Arts. He also serves as Director of Music and the Arts for Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. He is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Conducting and Choral Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he conducts the UALR Concert Choir, the UALR Chamber Choir, and the UALR Community Chorus.<\/p>\n<h4>Bruce Rentz, producer<a href=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-336\" src=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Bruce Rentz\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.praeclara.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bruce-Rentz.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Bruce Rentz is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio; he holds an M Div. degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. He has performed on stage in major roles in twenty community theater productions in New York and in Little Rock, including appearing as President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Praeclara&#8217;s 2017 production of <em>Annie the Musical<\/em>. Mr. Rentz has sung with the New York City Gay Men&#8217;s Chorus and their select twenty-member ensemble. He produced Praeclara&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Carmina Burana<\/em> in 2014, as well as\u00a0<em>Peter Grimes, Dido and Aeneas,\u00a0<\/em>the Praeclara original\u00a0<em>Dracula Unearthed<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Messiah by Candlelight<\/em>,\u00a0<em>An English Afternoon Tea, The Music Man,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>The Pirates of Penzance<\/em>.
